Patrick Canini Scholar Athlete Award

The Patrick Canini Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually by the Columbus Piave Club to recognize an outstanding graduating high school senior who excels both in the classroom and in athletics.

This $1,500 scholarship honors the legacy of Patrick Canini by celebrating students who demonstrate dedication, leadership, character, and a commitment to personal excellence.

Founded in 1919, the Columbus Piave Club is Central Ohioโ€™s oldest Italian American civic and social organization. Supporting the next generation of leadersโ€”on and off the fieldโ€”is a core part of our mission to keep traditions alive while investing in the future of our community.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be of Italian descent

  • Be a graduating high school senior

  • Demonstrate strong academic performance

  • Participate in one or more school sports or athletic programs

  • Show leadership, character, and involvement in their school and/or community

Award Details

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,500

  • Number of Recipients: One graduating senior

  • Application Deadline: April 1 at 2:00 PM

  • Award Presentation: Tuesday August 4th, 6:30pm

Father Casto Marrapese Scholarship

The Father Casto Marrapese Scholarship honors the legacy of Fr. Casto Marrapese, a beloved community leader and the founder of the Columbus Italian Festival, whose lifelong dedication to faith, service, and Italian-American heritage continues to inspire future generations.

Sponsored by Saint John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, this scholarship supports graduating high school seniors of Italian descent as they pursue higher education, recognizing students who demonstrate strong character, community involvement, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

Through this award, we celebrate Fr. Marrapeseโ€™s enduring belief in the power of education, faith, and service to strengthen both individuals and the broader community.
